Time: 1:00pm. Age restrictions: All Ages. Box office: 5129245821. Bring your 3 favorite songs to sing and we’ll workshop the material with a bass player and pianist. I would love for each vocalist to have time to perform their material top to bottom, and then receive feedback from the ensemble, the audience (the other participants) and the vocal coach (that would be me!) Then try it again if you’d like, while applying some of those helpful tips. It’s an invaluable opportunity to work through your songs in a safe and supportive atmosphere. We will get comfortable on the mic, learn the right cues to give the band, How to get into and out of a song, work on your stage presence, making sure that your charts read down easily for the instrumentalists, feel the support of live accompaniment to interact with and respond to musically etc. etc. Bring your lead sheets or scores (in your key) for the instrumentalists to accompany you (two copies plz) and have all of your lyrics committed to memory. This 6 piece ensemble plays all original high energy music featuring top musicians from the Austin area. Featuring Stern on vocals, John Mills on tenor sax and trumpet master Dennis Dotson of Woody Herman fame on the band stand along with composer, pianist and accordion player George Oldziey. This is a night of celebration for Oldziey being his 70th birthday and what better way to celebrate!
